Solutions — Critical Infrastructure Protection
Protecting the grid, oil and gas and industrial control systems: non-intrusive SCADA/OT measurement and cyber defense
Drawing on more than 90 years of engineering, Rohde & Schwarz applies passive, non-intrusive measurement techniques so that power, petrochemical and water OT/SCADA environments can complete IEC 61850 and IEC 62443 compliance verification without being taken offline.
The core problems facing critical infrastructure
Critical infrastructure today faces a combination of threats without precedent: cyber attack techniques keep advancing, the electromagnetic spectrum keeps getting more congested, drones intrude at low altitude, and aviation systems are squeezed from two directions at once. Meeting all of that calls for one solution that spans several engineering disciplines, not an assembly of separate tools.
- Cybersecurity threats and network attacks grow steadily more complex, and demand more capable forensic investigation and active defense tools
- Mobile network QoS/QoE requirements keep rising, and 5G private networks and Open RAN verification are new problems to solve
- As IoT and M2M devices proliferate, spectrum interference becomes more severe and the reliability of mission-critical wireless communications is put at risk
- Commercial drone use brings unauthorized surveillance, intrusion and swarm threats, and makes low-altitude airspace management far harder
- Airports, ports, power plants and comparable facilities have to guarantee spectrum availability 24/7 and locate interference sources precisely and in real time

Taoyuan International Airport — VHF ATC radio equipment evaluation (Taiwan)
Indicative caseTo meet ICAO Annex 10 and the technical standards of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation began evaluating a renewal of its ATC VHF communications equipment in 2024. KanTek Technology submitted a technical description of the R&S Series5200 VHF radio system, covering the CERTIUM VCS integration architecture and its remote monitoring capability. Taoyuan International Airport Corporation is a public corporation in which the Ministry of Transportation and Communications holds an investment, and its procurement evaluation follows the Government Procurement Act. [Disclosure: the evaluation is still under way and the airport's own official announcement governs the outcome; the technical briefing slides can be made available under NDA to support a procurement evaluation.]
Read the originalTechno Sky (ENAV Group, Italy) — UAV-based ILS/VOR ground inspection (international reference)
Flying the R&S EVSD1000 and R&S EVSx receivers aboard its DVI2AM drone, Techno Sky built Europe's first fully automated, ICAO-compliant UAV ILS/VOR ground inspection system. It is authorized by the Italian civil aviation authority (ENAC) for use at airports throughout the EU, and has been extended to beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operation at every single-runway airport in Italy. VOR test time fell from 20 minutes to about 5 minutes and ILS from 50 minutes to about 30 minutes, runway occupancy was cut by 20 minutes, and operating costs came down by roughly 50%. This is a case R&S has published publicly, and it is offered here as an international technical reference for customers in Taiwan carrying out their own evaluation.

A complete local support commitment
The industries that rely on KanTek
After a Taiwanese civil aviation organization adopted the R&S EVSG1000 air navigation signal analyzer in Q1 2024, ILS LOC/GP flight inspection verification went from three days to eight hours, and two VOR frequency offsets outside the ICAO Annex 10 tolerances were caught early in the annual calibration cycle. A domestic telecom operator used the CMW500 for 5G SA core network acceptance testing and raised its first-pass end-to-end KPI rate from 72% to 96%. KanTek Technology supplies the local engineering support and arranges calibration through a TAF-accredited partner laboratory, so the equipment stays compliant over its service life.
