Overview
The Pendulum FTR-210R is a GNSS-disciplined rubidium frequency and time reference that delivers near-Cesium-level stability through continuous GNSS correction. Seven outputs are standard (5×10 MHz, 1×5 MHz, 1×1 pps), expandable to eleven, with a programmable 100 MHz pulse output available as an option. The optional built-in independent frequency calibrator gives genuine traceability to the GPS time scale and to UTC, and can produce a traceable calibration report at any time. With the optional DC to 400 MHz measurement input, the FTR-210R becomes a stand-alone, very high performance frequency calibrator resolving 13 digits in a 1 second gate time.
Key features
- Frequency and time standard — Short-term stability is very high and aging close to zero while GNSS-disciplined; in independent holdover, aging is < 5×10⁻¹¹/month. The 1 pps time output sits within < 10 ns rms of UTC, and holdover drift is about 1 µs/24 h.
- Modular, multi-output configuration — Seven outputs as standard (5×10 MHz, 1×5 MHz, 1×1 pps), with four more (2×100 MHz + 2×10 MHz) fitted to the rear panel to drive further instruments and devices under test.
- Frequency calibration in one instrument — With the optional DC to 400 MHz measurement input it becomes a stand-alone frequency calibrator: 14 ps time resolution (7 ps optional), 12 to 13 digits in a 1 second gate time, and gap-free measurement throughout.
- Traceable, and never sent away for calibration — The Option 220 documenting frequency comparator compares GNSS against the internal oscillator continuously and keeps a day-by-day calibration history for years, producing a traceable report — the instrument itself never has to be sent out for recalibration.
- Local or remote control — Operated from the 5 inch colour touchscreen; rear-panel Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 with the built-in web server allow control from the bench or from anywhere in the world.
- Powerful, straightforward calibration tools — The MATH functions show the frequency under test as an absolute value, as a deviation from nominal or as a relative deviation; upper and lower tolerance limits with pass/fail indication simplify manual and semi-automatic calibration.
Typical applications
- Large digits, read at a glance — The 5 inch colour touchscreen shows the frequency reading in large digits (13 digit resolution) alongside period, Vmin / Vmax / Vp-p and other measured values, with limit indication for quick interpretation.
- Live statistics and frequency distribution analysis — The built-in histogram and statistics engine shows mean, min, max, peak-to-peak, standard deviation and Allan deviation (ADEV) of the measurement sample in real time, so the stability of the device under test can be assessed without external software.
- Long-term stability at a glance — A graph of measured value against time (over 1000 seconds and beyond) tracks the long-term drift and aging of the device under test — a valuable tool in calibration and verification work.
