The R&S®SMF100A is a microwave signal generator with excellent single sideband (SSB) phase noise. Its built-in pulse modulator and pulse generator serve pulsed radar applications, it generates FM modulation noise, and it can be used for scalar network analysis — which made it a fixture in development, production, service and repair and in aerospace and defense. The model is discontinued and the successor recommended by Rohde & Schwarz is the R&S®SMA100B.
