Product overview
The R&S®EPL is a portable EMI test receiver from Rohde & Schwarz for pre-compliance and compliance testing and for measuring on site, with a choice of frequency ranges from 5 kHz up to 7.125 GHz. The EPL1000 concentrates on low-frequency conducted interference to 30 MHz, the EPL1001 extends to 1 GHz and can be upgraded to 7.125 GHz, and the EPL1007 covers the full CISPR range outright. Every model is in line with CISPR 16-1-1 and carries the CISPR compliant set of detectors; with the time domain scan option (K53) scanning becomes much faster, so an engineer can spot a potential EMI problem while the design is still open. The optional 4-channel click rate analysis (K59) covers CISPR 14-1 household appliance EMI measurement. A small housing and a direct user interface make the EPL the measuring instrument a development engineer will carry around.
Key features
- Portable and small enough to take out of the laboratory for on-site pre-compliance work and quick EMI scans
- Three frequency models: 30 MHz (EPL1000), 1 GHz (EPL1001) and 7.125 GHz (EPL1007) — buy what you need
- The EPL1001 can be upgraded to 7.125 GHz in the field, protecting the initial investment and leaving room to grow
- In line with CISPR 16-1-1, with CISPR quasi-peak, average and peak detectors built in
- The time domain scan option (K53) uses CISPR band related step sizes to cut scan time substantially
- The real-time spectrogram (K55E) gives a live spectrum view that shows up intermittent interference quickly
- 4-channel click rate analysis (K59) covers CISPR 14-1 ed. 6/7 appliance EMI testing
- Optional preselection and preamplifier (B2) raise sensitivity for tighter measurement requirements
Typical applications
- Quick pre-compliance EMI scans during product design, finding and fixing interference early
- CISPR 14-1 click rate measurement on household appliances, with the K59 option
- CISPR 32 / EN 55032 conducted interference pre-testing of information technology equipment
- Locating interference sources and troubleshooting on the factory floor
- The portable instrument for an EMC compliance engineer, complementing work at a certification laboratory
