Product overview
The R&S®ZPH Cable Rider is a handheld cable and antenna analyzer made for installing and maintaining base station antenna systems in the field — expect fast, expect efficient. A one-port model covers cable and antenna measurements; the two-port combination model adds spectrum analysis, interference detection and signal strength mapping. It boots in under 15 seconds, measures at 0.3 ms per point, runs up to nine hours on a charge, and at 2.5 kg with an ergonomic grip it copes with rough conditions on site.
Key features
- Fast to start and fast to measure: boot time under 15 seconds, 0.3 ms per measurement point, and the synthesizer is ready after a minute of warm-up
- Long battery life: a 72 Wh lithium-ion pack runs for up to nine hours on one charge
- Light and rugged: 2.5 kg, IP51 protection, a non-reflective screen for bright sunlight and a backlit keypad for working in the dark
- Complete cable and antenna measurements: distance-to-fault (DTF), return loss, VSWR, cable loss and Smith chart display
- One-step calibration: the R&S®ZN-Z103 calibration unit switches between the open, short and load standards automatically, so calibration takes one step
- Direct touch interface: smartphone-like gestures, a single key to the configuration overview menu, and touch control for zooming the spectrum and handling markers
- Flexible upgrades: options are activated in the field with a keycode, with no need to return the instrument
- Spectrum analysis on the two-port combination model: AM/FM/ASK/FSK demodulation and interference analysis (requires option K1)
Typical applications
- Base station installation and maintenance: cable and antenna measurements on mobile infrastructure antenna systems
- Field troubleshooting: distance-to-fault (DTF) analysis pinpoints cable faults on towers and antenna masts
- Spectrum monitoring and interference analysis: with options K1/K15 and a directional antenna, map signal strength and locate an interference source (two-port model)
- Electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements: with option R&S®ZPH-K105, monitor field strength on site
- Mobile network field test: general spectrum analysis and mobile network compliance verification (two-port model)
- Power sensor and radar test: pulse measurements and power level verification with options K9/K29
