Product overview
The R&S®FSC is professional spectrum analysis, compact and cost-efficient: every core function of a professional spectrum analyzer in a small, low-cost instrument built to the usual Rohde & Schwarz standard. Its RF characteristics and measurement accuracy make results dependable and repeatable, and it fits development test, production, training and service work equally well. At 3 HU and half 19" rack width, drawing only 12 W, it is the smallest instrument in its class and the cheapest to own: two R&S®FSC units, or one FSC and a signal generator, fit into a single 3 HU rack space.
Key features
- Excellent RF performance — phase noise down to −95 dBc (1 Hz) at f = 500 MHz, 30 kHz offset, and DANL of −165 dBm normalized to 1 Hz with the preamplifier, which covers the standard measurement applications
- Wide frequency coverage — the FSC3 spans 9 kHz to 3 GHz and the FSC6 9 kHz to 6 GHz, for a broad spread of RF test work
- Preset measurement modes — harmonic measurements, AM modulation depth and adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) are built in, which shortens setup
- Optional tracking generator (R&S®FSC-B22) — 100 kHz to 3 GHz or 6 GHz with more than 70 dB of dynamic range, for network and filter characterization
- Compact and frugal — 3 HU and half 19" wide, drawing as little as 12 W, so two units fit one 3 HU rack space and save both room and power
- AM/FM audio demodulation — a built-in 3.5 mm audio output demodulates AM and FM signals for listening in the field
- Multilingual user interface — eleven languages including Chinese, for users worldwide
- Complete set of interfaces — USB front and rear for data storage and PC connection, LAN remote control (SCPI 1997.0), BNC external reference and trigger, and an IF output
- Low total cost of ownership — a sensible purchase price alongside low calibration costs
Typical applications
- RF product development — component characterization, harmonic analysis and spurious identification, so a design can be verified quickly
- Production line quality test — preset measurement modes run factory specification checks fast and keep the line moving
- Field service and maintenance — compact and light at 4.5 kg, easy to carry to site for maintaining and troubleshooting wireless equipment
- RF training — a direct user interface and preset measurements make it a good teaching instrument for spectrum analysis in university and corporate courses
- Communications system verification — ACLR measurements for verifying transmitter performance in cellular and wireless LAN systems
- EMC precompliance — with the R&S®HZ-15 near-field probe set, first-pass EMC detection and fault location
