Product overview
The R&S®SAM100 system amplifier is an ultra-broadband solid-state microwave amplifier covering 2 GHz to 20 GHz — a full decade of bandwidth. With up to 20 W of output power, excellent linearity and very low noise (noise figure < 8 dB), the SAM100 makes an ideal compact system amplifier for design verification test (DVT), product verification test (PVT) and EMC test environments. In a measurement system built around R&S signal generators, spectrum analyzers or network analyzers it serves as a driver stage or a gain compensation amplifier. It is also an excellent alternative to a traditional travelling wave tube amplifier (TWT), or to a stack of narrowband single-band amplifiers. The latest GaN-HEMT technology and a heat pipe thermal design give it very high power density, with noise power density down to << –100 dBm (1 Hz). The modular, compact construction fits a 19" system rack or a PXI frame and works as a portable desktop unit, and the digital control interface makes it easy to integrate into an automated test system (ATE).
