Overview
The R&S®WPU2000 is a wideband processing unit built for ELINT missions, able to intercept, record and analyze modern radar signals including low-power solid-state radars, FMCW radars and phased array waveforms. The base unit covers 20 MHz – 18 GHz and options extend it down to 8 kHz or up to 40 GHz, with a real-time bandwidth of up to 2 GHz. As the core processing module of an ELINT system, paired with a wideband receive front end it provides complete radar electronic intelligence collection, supports simultaneous time and frequency domain analysis and processes up to 10 million radar pulses per second.
Key features
- Wideband ELINT interception: 8 kHz – 40 GHz with up to 2 GHz real-time bandwidth, so no short radar pulse is missed.
- High-speed scanning: scan speeds of up to 2500 GHz/s survey a wide electromagnetic environment quickly.
- Eight-channel DDC pulse analysis: eight digital downconverter (DDC) channels, each with an integrated pulse analyzer, analyze several threat signals at once.
- Very high pulse throughput: up to 10 million pulses per second, for radar signature analysis in dense electromagnetic environments.
- Simultaneous time and frequency domain analysis improves the accuracy and efficiency of radar signal identification.
- Flexible expansion through options such as HS1-HF, HS1-MW40 and HS1-MIQ and the external microwave downconverter (MC40).
- Suited to airborne, shipborne and ground-based ELINT platforms.
Typical applications
- ELINT radar electronic intelligence missions: intercepting, recording and analyzing modern radar and communications signals to build a complete electromagnetic intelligence database.
- Radar threat signature classification and identification: extracting parameters such as pulse repetition interval (PRI), pulse width (PW) and direction of arrival (DOA) to build a threat library.
- Electronic warfare (EW) system development and test: a core signal processing platform for EW systems, supporting integration verification and performance assessment.
- Tactical situational awareness and electromagnetic environment assessment: monitoring and analyzing a complex electromagnetic environment in real time to support tactical decisions.
- Aerospace and defense research: integrates with receivers such as the R&S®ESMW and ESME for defence research and intelligence collection platforms.
