Overview
The A800D is built around fast high voltage operational amplifiers with a precision feedback network for an accurate voltage gain of 100, amplifying the low-amplitude signal of an arbitrary waveform or function generator (output voltage up to ±10 V) to a broadband high voltage output of up to 800 Vpp. Frequency response covers DC to about 300 kHz at full 800 Vpp scale, and a high 500 V/µs slew rate reproduces fast-rising pulses and high-frequency waveforms faithfully. The outputs use isolated BNC connectors with a built-in current limiting circuit (60 mA per channel) that withstands an accidental short circuit without damaging the amplifier, while the input carries a 15 mA microfuse to prevent overvoltage damage. The A800D is compact (102 × 257 × 262 mm, 4 kg), supports 100 / 120 / 230 V worldwide, and its two channels share a ground reference, which suits symmetrical drive and differential measurement work.
Key features
- Bipolar output up to ±400 V — Each channel outputs a bipolar high voltage signal of up to 800 Vpp at a fixed gain of 100, reproducing the full shape of the input waveform accurately for high voltage device drive and materials characterisation.
- High 500 V/µs slew rate — The no-load slew rate reaches ca 500 V/µs, reproducing fast pulses and high-frequency waveforms faithfully, and the broadband DC to about 300 kHz response suits test scenarios of many kinds.
- Two independent channels sharing ground and power — The enclosure holds two entirely independent A800 amplifier circuits sharing one power supply, so two devices can be driven at once or a differential waveform measured, improving laboratory efficiency.
- Layered overload protection — The input has a 15 mA microfuse (Littelfuse 272.015) to prevent overvoltage damage; the output current limiting circuit withstands an accidental short circuit, keeping both the instrument and the device under test safe.
- Flexible input signal compatibility — The nominal input range is ±4 V and any low output impedance function generator or arbitrary waveform generator can serve as the source, so it is simple to operate and works readily with equipment the laboratory already has.
- Worldwide supply voltages, compact body — It supports 100 V / 120 V / 230 V (factory preset), weighs only 4 kg and measures 102 × 257 × 262 mm, so it fits easily into an existing test rack or onto a bench.
Typical applications
- Synchronous drive of two-axis piezo actuators — In precision positioning stages, optical scanning and nanoimprint equipment, an R&D laboratory needs to apply ±400 V high voltage drive signals to two piezo actuators at the same time. The two independent A800D channels share ground and power supply, giving synchronous high voltage output to the X and Y axes from one enclosure — avoiding the ground loop problems of two single-channel amplifiers and keeping the waveforms consistent and aligned in time.
- Measuring and driving the electrical characteristics of MEMS devices — While developing MEMS sensors and microactuators, an engineer has to excite the device with a broadband high voltage signal (DC to several hundred kHz) while using the second channel to apply a bias or a differential excitation, observing the device's frequency response and non-linear behaviour. The A800D's 500 V/μs slew rate and 300 kHz bandwidth reproduce the test waveform from an arbitrary waveform generator precisely, amplifying the low voltage signal linearly by 100 and driving the device under test directly.
- Evaluating the drive characteristics of liquid crystal and OLED panels — Display material and process laboratories assessing liquid crystal alignment, an OLED emissive layer or a new electrochromic material need a programmable bipolar high voltage AC source. The A800D's ultra-linear amplification keeps the drive waveform free of distortion, and the two channels can apply fields of different frequency or amplitude, helping researchers compare the electro-optical response of two samples in one measurement and shorten the material screening cycle.
